what happened in the first half of school in sem 3.2? (part 1 - lessons)

a lot. i mean, that isn't to anyone's surprise i'm sure, but i think that there were a lot of unexpected moments and things that made me consider life in uni. 

i think that motivation has NOT changed this sem - thoroughly feel unmotivated to cp, less pressure to cp etc. i mean it helps (i think) that two of my mods have like very lax class part rules, so much so that the other two modules i don't feel the pressure. i think it's also that this is my second last sem in smu (excluding exchange), so like i'm not so concerned about grades? or at least not the cp part of it because there is still about another 80% to earn. 

this is also my first time taking a smux mod (basically like project-intensive) and...in my first lesson i sat with this random group who said they didn't know each other beforehand but...idk i think i kinda was too quiet? and when i interacted i was kinda over-forcing my interactions and it became a little bit awkward....so then i kinda just excused myself to pair up with someone else for some group activity (since they had 4 ppl within them anyways so i was alw the odd one out) and in the end i grouped with that person and some other people. 

but i realised that having never taken a smux mod before, i know very little about how intensive it actually is. having to deal with clients, struggle to get interviews...the problems are really hard to overcome. who knew the interim presentation had to be so professional/formal? who knew the tenants would be so unwilling to accept interviews? who knew proxies couldn't be used in an interim presentation as representations to fill in temporary gaps in the interview process? not me, nor anyone else in my group. and ngl, they do seem quite unmotivated. like we r willing to do the work but no one seems willing enuf to take up leadership/initiative to decide on the design of the slides, how to split the work concretely etc..its kinda a mix of forced leadership and play by ear rn. and ofc, having to deal with this while on holiday is one reason why im crashing out (i swear for some reason when it starts cmg it nvr stops). but anyways i hope the second presentation goes well in week 9 which is in like 2 days...

then there is this night class called supply chain management. i think it is really fun cuz my prof is super chill (he's french) and one of the first things he said in class is he likes wine and he always buys his wine from wine connection..and then he links it back to supply chain efficiency and how being 98% efficient is fantastic because that means u aren't holding too much inventory by trying to meet EVERY order and instead just 98%. ngl thought that was rly cool

also realised how many ppl ik in that class..i mean smu is rly small but i didn't expect it to be THAT small. have seen at least 7 ppl in my class before. but anyways i think that classes are really chill - there is always a consistent format of 7-820 lesson, then break and then resume from 840-10. and prof usually alw recaps the learning points from the week and the weeks before to try to create an overall mindmap of how supply chain management should be viewed. and honestly i mean as with angmoh ppl he is p direct but its also kinda good that he knows his stuff and he really loves teaching...i mean he wanted to drag us back to school on a saturday evening to make up for the lesson that was cancelled over the cny holiday. maybe the only criticism i have is that his case study can be abit convoluted because some data is missing but we i think kept running in circles trying to find it so...idk AHAHHA

there is also this friday morning class for port focal logistics which is by the same goofy prof that gave me a B overall grade for her mod last sem...i mean shes nice and shes knowledgeable but bruh her pronounciation sometimes really cmi...like her straddle and shuttle become shuttle and shruttle...HAHAHA i swear the whole class was damn confused sial. also i swear during one of her lessons i was doing law project and during another 2 lessons i was planning itinerary for my sydney trip AHAHAHHA. honestly nothing much else to say for that prof other than the fact that her pronounciation sends me over the edge

then right after this there is a fri aft lesson (look i wldnt want to take thurs night into fri morning into fri aft but the fri classes r only available this sem and the alt to thurs night is a p shit prof on monday aft so...nah.) i swear this prof look like ke huy quan sia like fr but hes taiwanese so...asian too ig? HAHAH  anyways he also quite nice and passionate about law lah like he always very enthusiastic. then at some point along the way i think he realises we all zoned out and wna gtfo then he will j play along and be like 'okay so yall wna faster finish lesson so i will speed up' or SOMETHING LIKE THAT he will like say it in a playful tone but also a tone whr uk he dgaf bcuz apparently thats what he does for his other law-student classes too

also this mod has a very psychotic incident in week 1 bcuz the groupings were ownself formed, fcfs. and the thing is he said the first few grps wld be marked more leniently. but then this girl ownself go put her name in the excel sheet the ta set up (okay tbf right it wasnt mentioned u needed a full group before u input ur name) but she was the only one in her group at that point in time. then there was a big fuss because at least 3 other grps already formed theirs and they all wanted the first few slots but that girl alr filled her name in week 1 and said oh its fcfs...ya gets but u wld kinda expect for such a thing for it to be a grouped-then-fill kinda thing right? idk man then everyone got damn fed up and annoyed, the ta and prof were stunned, and the girl dropped the class after week 1 bcuz i think (or all of us think rather) she cannot bear to show face after the week 1 embarrassment AHHAHAH

okay but anyways thats end of school update and part 1...part 2 will be social events plus sydney
